POETRY – RHYME


War:

The perennial sacrifice, of materials and men,
The blood letter of oaths, the rights of religion.
The claims of kinship, laird of the glen,
Engine of economics, trade carrier pigeon.

Settler of disputes, harbinger of hate,
Access to democracy, a terrorists dream.
Food for the poppies, appeasement our fate,
Easy road to power, a fascists prey scene.
